Darrin is a Principal Engineer at REV·1 Engineering. Upon graduating from Cal Poly, SLO in 1999, Darrin started his career with Guidant Vascular Intervention in the Pre-Clinical Research Department, where he conducted testing for a variety of interventional devices, including stents, dilatation catheters, guide wires, guiding catheters, atherectomy and pacemaker lead delivery. Darrin became a primary inventor, developing synthetic anatomical models for testing medical devices and physician training. Darrin then transitioned to the Drug Eluting Stent Program where he worked on the drug coating process, increasing yields and throughput, and ramping up production. Later he transitioned to Stent Delivery Systems, where he designed and developed two generations of side-branch access stent delivery systems.
Darrin was next hired as the first engineer at Sequent Medical, a start-up company treating neurovascular aneurysms using a proprietary braiding technology. While at Sequent, Darrin designed and developed the delivery system and implant, and was responsible for manufacturing from the R&D phase through first-in-man builds. At REV·1 Darrin fills a multi-functional role combining his design, development and pre-clinical experiences to rapidly bring to market leading edge technology in novel medical devices.
