Eric Johnson

Eric Johnson

CEO and Co-Founder

Eric Johnson is the CEO and co-founder of REV·1 Engineering and has been professionally engaged in medical device development since 1995. After working for Stryker Instruments, Guidant Corporation, Boston Scientific and running various entrepreneurial ventures of his own, Eric teamed with Phil Burke to create REV·1 Engineering.

Eric has expertise in every stage of Medical Device Product Development, from concept to manufacturing. Starting in medical device manufacturing and transitioning through advance manufacturing project management, research and development, and early product research, Eric progressed into specializing in recognizing new product concepts, creating intellectual property and working with physicians and key opinion leaders to develop early market-leading concepts. Eric is named on over 30 patents and numerous applications related to orthopedic tools, angioplasty, pacemaker leads, wound closure, electrophysiology devices, and catheter delivery systems.

Phillip Burke

Phillip Burke

COO and Co-Founder

Phillip Burke is the Co-founder and Chief Operations Officer of REV·1 Engineering and a veteran of Medical Device Product Development. Beginning his professional medical device career in 1991 with Devices for Vascular Intervention (D.V.I.), then Advanced Cardiovascular Systems (A.C.S.) & finally Guidant Corporation, Phil teamed with Eric Johnson to create REV·1 Engineering. In addition to his Mechanical Engineering Degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Phillip Burke has expertise in every stage of Medical Device Product Development, from concept to manufacturing.

Starting in medical device R&D, and transitioning through manufacturing, Phil progressed into specializing in project/program/portfolio management, leading R&D teams through the product development process for medical devices of all types. Phil and his team have developed medical products in a wide range of fields including Spinal Pacing, Angioplasty Delivery Systems, Ablation Catheters, Spinal Implants, Stent Delivery Systems, Vessel Repair Systems, Transapical Access/Closure Devices, Infusion pumps, Incision Closure Devices, Ocular health, Radiation Protection and Electrical Mapping Catheters.

Scott Huter

Scott Huter

Vice President of Operations, Partner

Scott is the VP of Operations and a Partner for REV·1 Engineering and has worked in the medical device industry since 1997. Scott’s medical device experience ranges from new product development, sustaining engineering, operations, engineering management and program management. Scott has experience working for small, medium and large medical device companies. He has been involved in all aspects of medical device product development from concept initiation, prototyping, device and process development, pre-clinical evaluation, clinical trials, ramp up and full commercial production. In addition, Scott has experience with internal and contract manufacturing.

Scott is named on over 20 U.S. patents and has been involved with the development of class I, II & III medical devices including: EP mapping catheters, guide wires, coronary and carotid embolic protections systems, peripheral and coronary drug eluting and pro-healing stents, balloon dilatation catheters, aspiration catheters, intravascular ultrasound catheters, wound closure devices, ophthalmic equipment, and cancer therapy delivery systems.

Kevin Magrini

Kevin Magrini

Development & Innovation Advisor, Partner

Kevin has been an engineer in the Medical Device industry since 2000. His medical device engineering expertise includes research and development, manufacturing engineering, equipment automation, and quality engineering. Kevin has deep experience with stent implants, balloon and stent delivery catheters, guide wires, embolic protection, ultrasonic catheters, electro-mapping catheters, ophthalmic devices and accessories.

Kevin’s knowledge in product development, SOLIDWORKS design, statistical analysis (Six Sigma), project management, quality engineering, root cause analysis, and product validation add to the project resource capabilities of the REV·1 Engineering team. Kevin is also proficient in CNC programming and machining, which helps REV·1’s ability to quickly turn out machined prototypes in house.

Peter D’Aquanni

Peter D’Aquanni

Development & Innovation Advisor, Partner

Peter has been working in medical device engineering since 1999 and with REV·1 Engineering since 2012. He brings a broad set of experiences in design, development and manufacturing to help clients accelerate value creation at various points in their product development cycle - from early design & IP generation to manufacturing and process yield improvement. Peter's device experience includes multiple structural heart systems, pacing and stimulation leads, PTCA, cosmetic surgery, wound closure, minimally invasive surgery, FFR guidewires, and durable medical equipment.

Peter has a BS in Materials Engineering from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and is named on over 20 US patents. His prior experience includes R&D and manufacturing roles at Guidant Corporation (acquired by Abbott/Boston Scientific in 2006) and Nexeon MedSystems (med-device start-up in Carlsbad, CA, acquired by Celonova in 2011).

Andy Denison

Andy Denison

Development & Innovation Advisor, Partner

During his career, Andy has held a variety of positions in Research and Development at Guidant Corporation, Edwards Life Sciences, Nexeon MedSystems, and CeloNova Biosciences. His device experience includes coronary and peripheral dilatation catheters, embolic protection devices, coronary and peripheral stents, drug delivery systems, subcutaneous suturing systems, cardiovascular access systems, steerable catheters, electroporation devices, mitral valve repair systems, electrophysiology mapping catheters, and other implants.

Andy’s skills include intellectual property generation, product design (specifically proof of concept and novel concept design), non-linear finite element analysis, fatigue analysis, complex mechanical systems, fixture design, process development, test method development, and design controls.

Terry Murray

Terry Murray

Vice President of Strategic Development

Terry Murray has 25 years of experience leading both corporate business units and investor-driven startups in global medical device, life science and technology sectors. Mr. Murray’s corporate leadership roles include successful engagements as Vice President, International Marketing, STERIS Corp., Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Europe & the Middle East, STERIS, and VP of Sales and Marketing, Revco Technologies, Inc. (SPX Corp).

Entering the startup world in 2001, Terry headed up sales and marketing for BioPhile, Inc., which was successfully sold, and served as Executive Strategist for SalesForce4Hire, LLC for six years prior to launching his own firm in 2008. Throughout his career, Terry’s leadership in strategy and execution has generated more than $1 billion in market capitalization growth. He is the author of the critically cited book, “The Transformational Entrepreneur” and is a frequent speaker and advisor on leadership, strategy and organizational culture. Mr. Murray is also a veteran of U.S. Naval Intelligence.
