Medical Device Engineering Updates for 2022 and 2023

It’s been a year-and-a-half since we’ve expanded into our new Design & Innovation lab and Strategic Manufacturing site (Temecula and Murrieta, CA), geared towards first-of-kind medical device development and its early, flexible manufacturing for V&V and clinical builds. We’ve hit the ground running, starting 7 new Design & Innovation projects and completing setting up 1 new Early Manufacturing production line into our local clean room environment, with another one ready to transfer to manufacturing in one month.

To meet growing demand, over 2022 we’ve made some of the following investments:

  • Increased our total staff from 20 to 48 employees, including
    • 10 Engineers
    • 4 Technicians
    • 11 Assemblers
    • 3 Accountants/Purchasing associates
  • New laser welding equipment to facilitate rapid prototyping at our Design & Innovation lab
  • New Steeger braider with both a 16 carrier and a 32 carrier head, further complementing our inhouse complex catheter development and de-risking long component lead-times.

In 2023 we will be seeing exciting new things, with our ISO 13485 certification planned in July, several additional investments in new prototyping equipment at our Design & Innovation site to support our Problem-Solving abilities, and further expanding the footprint of our early manufacturing site. With our parent company Filmecc Co., Ltd., part of the Asahi Intecc group, we’re looking forward to connecting with start-up and innovator clients in the field by participating again in the MedTech Innovator Program and other select events and competitions.
